Time Travel Challenge “Bionik2Future”

With our educational gaming app Bionik2Future, everyone can travel to a green future! Climate change, digitalization, resource scarcity – how will these present challenges be solved in the future? Discover the future with unbreakable ceramic cups, owl-necked gripping arms and pitcher plant surfaces.
In one lesson (45 minutes) we take the students on a time travel challenge – either at the Bionicum or directly at your school. Because beaming is not yet a reality, we can only offer the latter in Nuremberg and the surrounding area for logistical reasons. It would be very good if we could visit several classes of the same school one after the other on one day.

Aeronautics – the dream of flying

Elegant like a bird in the air, nimble like a bat in the dark night, weightless like flying seeds in the wind – to be capable of flying, that is what every human being dreams of. That’s why Leonardo da Vinci studied nature in detail. His ideas didn’t always work out, but they did provide the inspiration for today’s flying machines. Together we will test flying models, see if robots can fly, and uncover the exciting secrets of the art of flight in animals and plants.

Duration: 1 to 2.5 hours
Grades: 5 to 10
Maximum 15 participants

Splash splash – on the trail of water

There are around 250,000 species in our oceans and each of them is perfectly adapted to its habitat. Even among the terrestrial species, there are experts who cope particularly well with very little or quite a lot of water. We also study plants that do not get wet when it rains. Together, we look for answers to questions like the following: Why can sharks swim so fast? How does the penguin start a turbo drive? How can houses or roof tiles clean themselves?

Grades: 5 to 10

Many species – many ideas

Together we go on an exciting species hunt and build our own bottle garden that we never have to water. Looking through the magnifying glass, we will discover how many living creatures are at home within the tiniest of spaces and how they depend on each other. We also discover that even the products in the refrigerator contain many different species.

Build smart

Whether it’s a bird’s nest, a snail’s shell or a rabbit’s burrow, animals are specialists at making a stable and secure home. Sounds complicated, but it’s really quite simple. What the animals’ construction methods tell us and why bamboo and water lily defy almost any weather – lets find out together. In the end, we will get creative with everyday materials and turn ourselves into master architects.
