Doors open with the MAUS

SORRY, ALL BOOKED ALREADY! Why doesn’t the cabbage get wet? And why do floating ferns shimmer silvery under water? We explore the whys and discover what happens when biology and technology work together. We try out the lotus effect and the salvinia effect live.

The nature of our planet is full of wonders. Luminous deep-sea creatures, state-forming insects and giant climbing plants are just a few examples. Many of these wondrous phenomena are unknown to humans, some of them have been observed, others have been described and studied. And some of these phenomenal treasures have been closely scrutinized by researchers. We humans have discovered that we can learn a lot from nature. Structures of particularly stable plants have been studied and recreated, clever ventilation systems have been discovered and adopted by animals and great surfaces with special properties have been transferred to human inventions. During the guided tour of the permanent exhibition, we explore some examples of these treasures of nature. In the special exhibition “Iridescently Beautiful”, we will get to the bottom of the mystery of how particularly colorful insects become true living jewels through spectral colors. The guided tour is in German only.

When? Friday 3 pm, Saturday 2 pm, Sunday 2 pm

Discovery tour through nature and technology

International Museum Day

What can we humans learn from nature and why is this so important for the future of our blue planet? Children and adults will find answers to these questions during the guided tour through the 400 m² interactive exhibition. The museum offers information on topics relevant to the future such as nature and species conservation, biodiversity and the sustainable use of resources, creative innovations and technologies of the future. In addition to exciting background information, visitors can also immerse themselves in the world of bionics using original exhibits and hands-on experiments.

What: Guided tour

When? 19.05.2024, from 2:00 – 3:15 pm

Teacher training: Digital progams

What can we learn from nature and why is this so important for the future of our blue planet? We provide answers to these questions and offer information on future-relevant topics such as nature and species conservation, biodiversity and sustainable use of resources, creative innovations and technologies of the future.

The teacher training course is a cooperation with the Staatliche Schulamt Nürnberg. You will discover the fascinating potential of bionics directly on site and deepen your pedagogical know-how, with a special focus on digital programs. After a tour of the exhibition, you will have the opportunity to experience the latest developments at first hand and embark on a journey of discovery through the world of bionics.

We offer you a sound basis for instructive and sustainable teaching units that can be seamlessly integrated into the curriculum. We will introduce you to the analog workshops on site as well as our diverse digital-based programs such as the time travel challenge with the Bionik2Future app or the digital workshop on biodiversity. Immerse yourself in innovative and interactive knowledge transfer and be inspired.

Time: 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Number of participants: 5 – 20

Registration: only in FIBS

Teacher training for secondary school teachers

Discover the fascinating potential of bionics and bio-inspired technologies and deepen your pedagogical know-how in the Bionicum. After an introductory tour of the exhibition, you will have the opportunity to experience the latest innovations at first hand and embark on a discovery journey through the zoo. We offer you a sound basis for educational and sustainable teaching units that can be seamlessly integrated into the LehrplanPLUS – both at school and in the Bionicum. In workshops on topics such as air, water and biodiversity, we show you experiments that you can carry out easily and cost-effectively. We enable playful experiences through digital-based programs, for example in the escape game with robot grippers or in the time travel challenge with the Bionik2Future app. Immerse yourself in innovative and interactive science communication and get inspired for project days, science week and P/W seminars. (German)

Time: 1:30 pm – 5:30 pm

Number of participants: 5 – 20

Registration: at info@bionicum.de or via FIBS

Teacher training for primary school teachers

Introducing children to nature and technology is best done in a playful context. Slip into the role of the pupils and join the little inventor Nik and his friend Bio, the fox, on an exciting journey through the world of bionics and biodiversity. Following a children’s book reading, we will experience and explore the exhibition together and also get to know another inhabitant of the Bionicum, the little robot. We will show you the potential of science communciation in the Bonicum and the zoo. In the workshop, you will make small experiments on water, air and biodiversity that you can easily and inexpensively integrate into your lessons. (German)

Time: 1:30 pm – 5:30 pm

Number of participants: 5 – 20

Registration: info@bionicum.de or via FIBS
