The nature of our planet is full of wonders. Luminous deep-sea creatures, state-forming insects and giant climbing plants are just a few examples. Many of these wondrous phenomena are unknown to humans, some of them have been observed, others have been described and studied. And some of these phenomenal treasures have been closely scrutinized by researchers. We humans have discovered that we can learn a lot from nature. Structures of particularly stable plants have been studied and recreated, clever ventilation systems have been discovered and adopted by animals and great surfaces with special properties have been transferred to human inventions. During the guided tour of the permanent exhibition, we explore some examples of these treasures of nature. In the special exhibition “Iridescently Beautiful”, we will get to the bottom of the mystery of how particularly colorful insects become true living jewels through spectral colors. The guided tour is in German only.
